This is one of those films that make it difficult not to root for the killer. It threw in a bit of a twist at the end which was welcome - but not really a good message to send. I didn't see much use for the anti-hero's mother - she seemed to be just there to make up the numbers. I thought the about turns of the victims were a little implausible - would you really forgive people who abused you? I certainly wouldn't - there's too much understanding and forgiveness in the psychobabble we are being deluged with these days. We find too many excuses for criminal behaviour and the predators have more rights than the victims it seems. Yes - I rooted for him - just like I did for Dexter - somebody has to take out the trash when our justice systems are so geared to finding excuses for the inexcusable behaviour of criminals.
