Even though the movie is superbly directed, and score is is spine chilling not to mention the screenplay was really good more like as watcher would like themselves in the movie, but some things are not digestible about the plot. well it was 2002 the era of mobile phone security cam, high speed internet and what not, Just showing the protagonist stole a baby and brought her up 17 years without anyone involvement raises several questions. Stole a baby really? with no trace no searching no look out, it is not possible and couldn't go unnoticed. Even if we leave the social aspects, people not interfering in others business. There are authorities, govt. workers. Kidnapping a grown-up and stealing an infant are very different things. Keeping it concealed a baby is really impossible if you're only one person, harder even with two. Doctors visit, vaccination, baby food and many other things will have people involvements, can't escape from it and that will bring many questions. What works the mother does, does she even has a work, did she go to work or office for last 17 years, who raises the baby then, no nurse or help, does she meet with people, and no people come to her house, like that. What was the protagonist source of income? How such a medical expenses were even met?. How did she made the mail truck disappear from middle of the road without raising any concern from nearest US mail office. No body came looking when truck was not returned with the mailman. She was getting calls in her home but no reception on the street. That's is so laughable. I think so many loopholes are there in the plot it shouldn't considered for an airtight story. From the story POV it is only 4 out of ten. We have to count and give credit to people with whom we are surrounded, notice or unnoticed they matter, how secluded or remote we live some are always there. That's why it is said have friends or well wisher who realizes our not being there.
