Greedy Baron Antonio Peletti refuses to give to his town the heredity left by his father, a box full of precious jewels, which he keeps for himself. The major and the rest of the townspeople therefore organize a trick at his expense: they'll make him believe he is dead, and, in a fake "afterlife", they'll try to convince him to finally show them where the money is hidden to save his soul.

Il barone Antonio Peletti, avarissimo, ha ricevuto dal padre in eredità una fortuna in oro e gioielli. Lui la tiene nascosta sotto il pavimento, negandone l'esistenza: infatti una clausola del testamento dice che dovrebbe donarne metà al municipio per la costruzione della scuola, mentre l'altra metà è riservata a suo figlio Gastone. El avaro barón Antonio Peletti se niega a darle a su pueblo la herencia que les ha dejado su padre a sus conciudadanos, una caja llena de piedras preciosas, que el barón esconde. El alcalde y el resto de habitantes organizan entonces una triquiñuela: hacerle creer que está muerto, y en un falso "más allá", tratar de convencerle para que les diga dónde esconde el dinero para poder salvar así su alma.
