No thanks, can't stand the lead actor!

That's your loss.

I go to see the Mission Impossible films because I've been an OG Mission Impossible fan since the first time I saw it on television all the way back in 1969.

Too much talking around middle part, I was falling asleep

What? This movie is filled with pure action.

@HarrySkywalker: But they killed Ilsa Faust!

I didn't hate it, but this is probably the second worst MI just above part 2. It's too long, a LOT of exposition (ie a lot of talking to explain what's going on), they needlessly kill Ilsa (I heard about this before hand and assumed it would be done in a way they could still bring her back but I don't see how), and the action sequences are kinda meh with the exception of the train car sequences at the end.

The evil AI as the main villain is super boring. They use the Gabriel character so that the villain has a human face but his character is just stock emotionless villain who Ethan encountered before but was never mentioned. It's kinda dumb. The entire movie is one big fetch quest for a key that we (nor the characters) even know exactly what it does, so why should I care? If they hadn't have done this exact same thing in every other past MI movie I'd be okay with it but you're seven movies into this franchise, I expect something more clever.

Not the worst movie ever or anything, perfectly enjoyable, just doesn't reach the heights of the previous 3 movies.

That was lame indeed. I hated it!

Oh boy... I absolutely disagree with you.

Please, don't even try to compare this amazing movie with that garbage called Mission Impossible 2.

Hey, if you liked it that much that's great, I'm happy for you. I wanted to love it. It just didn't excite me that much. Like I said, didn't hate it, not a bad movie by any means, just didn't like it as much as the others aside from part 2.

Hey! To be honest you are one of the rare people who didn't like this movie. Every professional and regular viewer priases this movie.

On the other hand, Mission Impossible 2 is a legendary joke laughed by everyone.

I'm going to stay out of the MI:DR Part 1 vs MI 2 convo, but I'm in the same boat as being in the minrority (apparently) of those who didn't love it.

I actually watched it partly because I saw it was nominated, so that raised my expectations a bit. One of the things I have come to enjoy about this series is how Tom Cruise does his own stunts. You can see that clearly again this film (the motorcycle base jump and the somersault parachute move out of the train come to mind. No matter what else you may think of him (and I don't think that much of him, as an actor or otherwise), it's impressive that he would--and they would allow him--to do such things himself.

I mention that because if you remove the fact that you are self-aware that he's doing his own stunts, as well shot as this is, it becomes a pretty lame spy script that we've seen before....which could be the problem...it seems we've seen about everything before!

This movie is absolutely top-notch.

Except for the part when those b***ards kill Elsa!
