A series of arsons is affecting Gothenburg. The leads brings Irene Huss to an unsolved case that happened 15 years ago. Meanwhile, a lady gets murdered in the archipelago, and at first it seems like the cases have nothing in common. Irene's investigation of the murder case leads her back far in time where secrets which are forgotten long ago come to the surface again. Irene's hard work gets even more complicated when she finds out that her daughter is a bully in school.

Göteborg drabbas av serie anlagda bränder. Kriminalinspektör Irene Huss börjar utreda en mordbrand som visar sig ha kopplingar till ett femton år gammalt olöst fall. Samtidigt tvingas hon utreda ett knivmord på en gammal dam ute i skärgården, ett fall som till en början inte verkar ha något som helst samband med mordbränderna. Men när Irene gräver djupare i mordfallet upptäcker hon saker som avslöjar gamla sedan länge glömda hemligheter. Den lugn och ro hon skulle behöva hemma förvandlas till förtvivlan när det kommer fram att dottern Katarina är en mobbare i skolan.
