While the earliest works of art of mankind depicted horses, the early history of the two species remains largely unknown. From the last nomadic peoples of the Altai Mountains to the Bedouins of the Arabian Peninsula and the Blackfoot Indians, Canadian anthropologist and filmmaker Niobe Thompson traveled the world for two years. He went to meet these communities who live in osmosis with their horses, and tried to understand the history and the nature of the very special bond between man and animal. At the same time, the work of German evolutionary biologist Martin Fischer allows, thanks to a 3D animation, to bring back to life the ancestor of the horse, whose appearance is surprisingly reminiscent of a small fox.

Si les premières oeuvres d'art de l'humanité représentaient déjà des chevaux, nous en savons pourtant très peu sur la façon dont notre histoire commune a débuté. Des derniers peuples nomades vivant dans les montagnes de l'Altaï aux Bédouins de la péninsule arabique en passant par les Pieds-Noirs amérindiens, l'anthropologue et réalisateur canadien Niobe Thompson a parcouru le monde pendant deux ans. Parti à la rencontre de ces communautés qui vivent en osmose avec leurs chevaux, il a tenté de comprendre l'histoire et la nature du lien si particulier qui nous unit à l'animal.

Die Dokumentation zeigt, wie Evolutionsbiologen das Fossil des Urpferdchens zum ersten Mal virtuell zum Leben erwecken und Archäologen die ersten Reiter entdeckten: ein heute verschwundenes Volk, das vor 6.000 Jahren das Pferd als erstes domestizierte .... Genetiker zeigen, wie eine zentralasiatische Reiterkultur vor knapp 5.000 Jahren ...nach Europa kam... Die Zähmung des Pferdes hat Europa, Asien und die ganze Welt für immer verändert.
