Vincent Lannoo’s ‘mockumentary’ shows us a community of vampires in Belgium. The two ‘parents’ of the family are George and Bertha, who have two teenage children – or rather, they raise two former humans who they turned into vampires. Son Samson is a bit of a jack the lad: enjoying the sexual freedom of vampire life, with all the vigour of an irresponsible young adult regardless of consequences (even incest is not frowned upon in their world, where the word ‘wife’ is often synonymous with ‘mother’ or ‘sister’). Daughter Grace yearns for humanity in a different way: applying fake tan to get rid of her vampiric pallor, dressing in pink clothes, wishing she could feel emotion and even having a human boyfriend.

Une chaîne de télévision est contactée par une communauté de vampires belges pour un reportage. Après quelques essais manqués (qui coûtent la vie aux reporters envoyés sur place), une équipe parvient à pénétrer le quotidien de la famille de Georges Saint-Germain, sa femme Bertha, Samson son fils incapable et sa fille Grace en pleine crise d’adolescence. Une famille normale quoi.

Um den Normalsterblichen einen Blick aufs untote Leben zu geben, wird eine Kameracrew losgeschickt, um im Reality-TV-Stil zu zeigen, wie es sich als Vampir so lebt. Die Crew trifft auf den Patriarch Georges, seine Frau Bertha und die beiden Kinder Samson und Grace. Wie jede Familie hat auch diese ihre Probleme: Grace möchte sterblich sein und begeht ein ums andere Mal Suizid, bleibt jedoch erfolglos, und Samson lässt nichts anbrennen. Er verführt die Frau des Vampirfürsten des Distrikts. Das hat Folgen, denn aus dem beschaulichen und schönen Leben in Belgien geht es ab in die Verbannung nach Kanada, wo das Blutsaugerdasein alles andere als angenehm ist ...

Falso documental llegado de Bélgica donde un equipo de televisión sigue a una familia de vampiros para filmar un documental sobre su vida. La familia está compuesta por el matrimonio formado por Georges y Bertha y sus hijos Samson y Grace; viven en la parte francófona de Bélgica y el documental muestra cómo se alimentan de inmigrantes ilegales, los problemas de los hijos adolescentes y la ofensa que les obligará a mudarse a Canadá.
