Историко-романтичен филм, посветен на подвизите на съпругите на декабристите, последвали своите мъже - участници в декабристкото въстание през 1925 година, заточени на каторга в Сибир.

　　一批先进的贵族青年密谋要推翻沙皇的残暴统治，建立民主国家。他们在十二月举行了武装起义，因而，后人称之为十二月党人。起义失败后，十二月党人受到镇压和迫害，领袖人物被绞死，特鲁别茨科依公爵，沃尔康斯基公爵等人被流放西伯利亚。这些被流放的十月党人的妻子和未婚妻们毅然决定抛弃优裕的生活，与丈夫一起到西伯利亚去。她们顶住了来自沙皇以及家人的压力，历尽艰辛跨越万里之遥，终于来到了自己亲人的身边。这些文弱的女子对爱情的忠贞，对十月党人爱国之心和革命精神的理解，以及她们本身无私无畏的牺牲精神在历史上谱写了动人的诗章。本片取材于俄国历史上的真实事件，片名取自诗人普希金的名句。

In December 1825, distinguished members of the Russian military, most of whom were quite affluent and of noble lineage, took it upon themselves to stir revolution against the autocratic and tyrannical Czar Nikolai I in the wake of his not honoring the drafting of a constitution for the Russian people. The revolution failed miserably and the conspirators (known as the Decembrists) were weeded out by the czar himself. One by one, each of the conspirators confess and are systematically exiled to the harsh winters of Siberia, slated to work and wither in a prison/mine. The wives of the conspirators are faced with the prospect of leaving the bosom of wealth and family (including their own children) to be with their husbands in the brutal Siberian locale. If they agree to this, they face having their illustrious social stations stripped away and certain disdain from everyone around them...

En Décembre 1825, un régiment d’élite de l’armée russe doit prêter serment au nouveau tsar Nicolas 1er. Mais de jeunes officiers ne supportent plus l'anachronisme du servage et préparent un coup d'État pour mettre en place une monarchie constitutionnelle. La sédition est écrasée et les organisateurs exécutés ou envoyés en Sibérie. Certaines épouses des officiers condamnés n’hésitent pas à aller les rejoindre en exil. Le film rend hommage à ces femmes.

В основу сюжетной линии положены судьбы декабристов: князя Трубецкого Сергея Петровича, его жены Трубецкой Екатерины Ивановны (урождённой Катрин Лаваль), князя Волконского Сергея Григорьевича и его жены Волконской (Раевской) Марии Николаевны, а также поручика Ивана Анненкова и его жены Прасковьи Анненковой (урождённой Полины Гёбль). После подавления восстания на Сенатской площади события развивались трагически: пятеро декабристов казнены, большинство отправлены в Сибирь. И вслед за ними, сквозь мороз и лишения, поехали их жены…

В основі сюжетної лінії знаходяться долі декабристів та їх родин. Після придушення повстання на Сенатській площі події розвивались трагічно: п’ятеро декабристів були страчені, більшість зіслані до крижаного Сибіру. Та слідом за ними, крізь мороз та труднощі, поїхали їх дружини…
