本故事根据真实事件改编。故事里的捍战小队是由华人组成的非洲某保镖公司的主力成员，他们不仅每天要面对和远方亲人的骨肉分离还要面对执行任务时的生死考验。于是队长杨东决定带着捍战小队踏上漫漫回家路。回到那个他们朝思暮想的祖籍国中国的怀抱。 捍战小队在回家的途中遇到武装匪徒屠杀平民百姓，队长杨东带领大家出手解救了无辜的难民和女孩纳塔。此后，捍战小队与匪徒们一路血战，但是却始终没能摆脱匪徒们的追击截杀。危急时刻，队长杨东在面对穷凶极恶的匪首威胁时强硬的回复：我们不会向邪恶低头。在我的家乡流传着这样一句话：谈，我们大门敞开，打，我们奉陪到底。最终，捍战小队保护着纳塔成功到达边境，他们也重整行囊带着兄弟的骨灰再次踏上向东的回家路。
