Perhaps he never even left his home? We have no proof that it wasn't all a dream.

I have also believed that the whole thing was in his mind.

Thinking back about this movie, I recall Mann stopping at a restaurant briefly and I wonder, why couldn't he get some kind of help against this tanker driver? It seems unclear now. As far as there being no proof that it wasn't a dream, one could probably say that about 90% of what one watches in the cinema - as long as it's not documentary.

In my 30's, I saw this film by Luis Bunuel - That Obscure Object of Desire. In it, he has two different actresses play this woman named Conchita. It's done in a subtle way, and for me, it called into question the validity of my experience as a spectator. I wondered, was that really the same woman character from before? Since watching Object of Desire, my whole way of watching flicks is all messed up - I'll ask myself, what should I believe about this film I am watching? I'll assume if there's nothing happening in the film to make me doubt anything that it's all on the up and up.

No, it's just easy to think that because he was mentally ill.

I would say no, it's not a dream. Just a bad guy in a truck trying to kill him.

The-Monkeyboy: I think that's why we're all trying to rationalize things in this thread, because the film's actions are so severe.
