Discuss Far North

One of the most disturbing movies I've seen. I can see why it's not easily palatable by audiences, which makes it more of a compelling story. The fact that a production company would take such a risk makes me happy.

This movie deserved more recognition than it acquired.

I like it, watched it a few times, getting ready to watch it again, but I can see how it never caught fire. It's a major downer ending after the killing of the dog, the harshness of that life, etc.

POSSIBLE MAJOR SPOILERS FOLLOW!!!

So someone I worked with, a few years back, told me he watched a movie set in the Arctic about a man who fell in love with a young woman. The mother of the young woman becomes jealous, and after the young woman dies (she might have been murdered), the mother cuts off the young woman's face and places it over her own.

The man returns to the tent where the older woman is, and, thinking she is really the younger woman he is in love with, he makes love to her; but during the lovemaking the dead daughter's face slips off the mother's face, and the man, horrified, runs naked into the Arctic wilderness, and the movie ends.

Is this (Far North, 2008) that movie?

Yeah...

Thanks, MongoLloyd!

Yikes! I'll be sure not to watch it … not my kind of thing . . . but to each his own:)
