It's too bad that in real life Spike was acquitted due to "lack of evidence". It seems like his father Mifflin Kenedy used his financial clout to pay off anyone involved in the trial. All that trouble in catching him, they could have just stayed at home and asked Spike to come to court for his slap on the hand.
