"Ho, ho, ho!"
"Santa Claus is coming to town."
"Santa - a former Viking warrior - brings presents to the Lightstone estate, where he confronts a group of mad mercenaries, who are holding the wealthy, dysfunctional family hostage. They want the money back that matriarch Gertrude had stolen from them."
"'Violent Night' combines elements from movies like 'Die Hard' and 'Home Alone' which makes all the insane bloody, gory action strangely entertaining. No one is really likeable, but if you have to root for someone, it will be Santa. Just remember, if you believe in Santa Claus, he cannot die. That's the magic of Christmas."

I'm not completely through it, but it seems like missed potential so far. The main problem is all the scenes with the kid and how they completely screw the pacing of the film and it basically comes to a screeching halt everytime she has a scene. Not sure why they felt it necessary to put those parts in a R rated movie with plenty of gratuitous violence. For example got to love the part where they break and dislocate a person's finger in rather graphic manner and are about to give his genitals the same treatment and just about right after that we have a "sentimental" scene of the kid talking with santa about the bunny and kite he gave her for christmas etc. I mean sure it is a christmas movie and all, but for whom exactly are those scenes for? 2022 has been a pretty terrible year for movies (one of the worst probably) and while this one doesn't seem so terrible it does not exactly raise the bar either.
