영국에서 배우로 활동하던 청은 오래 전에 떠났던 고향 마을로 돌아온다. 자신의 꿈을 좇기 위해 고향을 떠나면서 부모와의 연을 끊었던 청에게 너무도 많이 변해버린 고향마을은 낯설기만 하고, 어디론가 사라진 아버지와 치매증상으로 딸을 알아보지 못하는 어머니를 보면서 너무 먼 길을 돌아왔다는 현실을 절감한다. 익숙하면서도 보편적인 내용이지만 홍콩영화 특유의 담담함과 일상성이 돋보이는 영화로, 클라라 라우(나탁요)와 안 후이(허안화) 등 홍콩뉴웨이브를 주도했던 감독들이 남긴 홍콩영화의 빛나는 전통과 유산이 여전히 이어지고 있음을 확인할 수 있는 영화.
