Giuseppe, a Sicilian fisherman, and Yousef, an exiled Tunisian, share a friendship, a fishing business and "Medea," the vessel on which they ply their trade. Then, while they are at sea, the fears of the post-9/11 world shatter their idyllic relationship. Giuseppe hears a radio broadcast about a wanted terrorist with Yousef's name. The Italian locks his friend in the hold. But when Yousef escapes, the former friends' boat becomes their battleground.

Yousef, un esiliato proveniente dalla Tunisia, trova lavoro in Italia come pescatore. Nonostante le difficoltà che qualsiasi emigrato incontra, Yousef stringe subito una forte amicizia con Giuseppe, tanto che i due decidono di comprarsi una piccola imbarcazione e pescare in proprio. Tutto sembra andare per il meglio quando, in seguito alla strage dell'11 Settembre, s'instaura un clima di diffidenza nei confronti dei musulmani ed a farne le spese sarà anche Yousef...

В совместном стремлении к мечте, одной на двоих, им не мешают ни культурные, ни национальные, ни религиозные различия: у Джузеппе и Юсуфа всё общее, даже гостиницу для туристов они решают приобрести одну на двоих. Но внезапно, после террористической атаки в мадридском метро, друзья узнают, что полиция ищет Юсуфа...
