Bea Palya (born Beáta Palya in Makó, 11 November 1976) is a Hungarian folk and world music singer and songwriter, sometimes appearing in films as an actress or singer.

In her early years she was influenced by Hungarian folk songs, Bulgarian, Jewish and Gypsy music, following her multiple ethnic roots.

Side by side with her musical career, she developed a career in the film industry. She sang the title song for the Hungarian film Portugal (2000). As an amateur actress, Palya appeared in a supporting role in Miklós Jancsó's A mohácsi vész (2004). She played a more important role in French film Transylvania (2006), and sang in Kolorado Kids (2010). In 2017, she made her feature film debut with a leading role in Etienne Comar's biographical film, Django (2017) as the gypsy wife of the title character, guitarist Django Reinhardt.

She grew up in the Hungarian village Bag, where she danced and sang in the local dance-group. She continued her education in Budapest at Apáczai Csere János Gimnázium, than studied ethnography at Eötvös Loránd University. She graduated in 2002.

Initially, she sang in the Hungarian folk music groups Zurgó and Laokoón and began her solo career in 2002. She performs Hungarian and Bulgarian folk music as well as jazz and world music. She also studied both Indian and Persian music.

Elle passe son enfance à Bag, dans le comitat de Pest où elle commence le chant et la danse dans le club de danse du village. Elle effectue sa scolarité au lycée János Apáczai Csere (Apáczai Csere János Gimnázium) de Budapest jusqu'en 1994 puis entreprend des études d'ethnographie à l'Université Loránd Eötvös (Eötvös Loránd Tudományegyetem). Elle en sort diplômée en 2002.

En 1992, elle est la chanteuse du groupe Zurgó együttes puis en 1996 du groupe Laokoón csoport. De 1997 à 2002, elle est membre de la troupe du Cirque Szabolcs Szőke; entre-temps, en 2000, elle fonde le groupe Folkestra együttes avec András Monori. En 2002, elle obtient une bourse de l'Institut français de Budapest et part pendant quelques mois à Paris. Elle y apprend notamment le Kakoli Sengupta auprès d'un chanteur indien. Elle rentre à Budapest en 2003 et y entame une carrière solo. En 2005, elle fonde son propre ensemble musical, le Palya Bea Quintet együttes avec lequel elle se produit parfois en Hongrie et à l'étranger.

Elle interprète de nombreux chants inspirés des cultures hongroise, tzigane et bulgare. Elle n'hésite pas non plus à y insuffler quelques sonorités jazz ou musique du monde.

En 2006, elle réalise la bande originale de Transylvania de Tony Gatlif et fait même plusieurs apparitions dans le film.

En 2016, elle interprète la femme de Django Reinhardt dans le film Django sorti en 2017.
