Ioanna "Nana" Mouskouri (born October 13, 1934) is a Greek singer. Over the span of her career, she has released over 200 albums in at least twelve languages, including Greek, French, English, German, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Hebrew, Welsh, Mandarin Chinese and Corsican.

Mouskouri became well known throughout Europe for the song "The White Rose of Athens", recorded first in German as "Weiße Rosen aus Athen" as an adaptation of her Greek song "Σαν σφυρίξεις τρείς φορές" (San sfyríxeis tris forés, "When you whistle three times"). It became her first record to sell over one million copies.

Later in 1963, she represented Luxembourg at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "À force de prier". Her friendship with the composer Michel Legrand led to the recording by Mouskouri of the theme song of the Oscar-nominated film The Umbrellas of Cherbourg. From 1968 to 1976, she hosted her own TV show produced by BBC, Presenting Nana Mouskouri. Her popularity as a multilingual television personality and distinctive image, owing to the then unusual signature black-rimmed glasses, turned Mouskouri into an international star.

"Je chante avec toi Liberté", recorded in 1981, is perhaps her biggest hit to date, performed in at least five languages – French, English as "Song for Liberty", German as "Lied der Freiheit", Spanish as "Libertad" and Portuguese as "Liberdade". "Only Love", a song recorded in 1985 as the theme song of TV series Mistral's Daughter, gained worldwide popularity along with its other versions in French (as "L'Amour en Héritage"), Italian (as "Come un'eredità"), Spanish (as "La dicha del amor"), and German (as "Aber die Liebe bleibt"). It became her only UK hit single when it reached number two in February 1986.

Mouskouri became a spokesperson for UNICEF in 1993 and was elected to the European Parliament as a Greek deputy from 1994 to 1999.

In 2015 she was awarded the Echo Music Prize for Outstanding achievements by the German music association Deutsche Phono-Akademie.

Nana Mouskouri's family lived in Chania, Crete, where her father, Constantine, worked as a film projectionist in a local cinema; her mother, Alice, worked in the same cinema as an usherette. When Mouskouri was three, her family moved to Athens.

Mouskouri's family sent her and her older sister Eugenía (Jenny) to the Athens Conservatoire. Although Mouskouri had displayed exceptional musical talent from age six, Jenny initially appeared to be the more gifted sibling. Financially unable to support both girls' studies, the parents asked their tutor which one should continue. The sister conceded that Jenny had the better voice, but Nana was the one with the true inner need to sing. Mouskouri has said that a medical examination revealed she only has one functioning vocal cord and this could well account for her remarkable singing voice (in her younger years ranging from a husky, dark alto, which she later dropped, to a ringing coloratura mezzo), as opposed to her breathy, raspy speaking voice.

Nana Mouskouri (en grec moderne: Nάνα Μούσχουρη, Nána Moúschouri), née Ioánna Moúschouri (Ιωάννα Μούσχουρη) le 13 octobre 1934 à La Canée (Crète), est une chanteuse et femme politique Grecque.

La famille Moúskhouri vit à La Canée, en Crète, où le père de Nana, Konstantínos, travaille comme projectionniste dans un cinéma local. Sa mère, Alíki, y est ouvreuse.

Ioánna a trois ans quand toute la famille déménage à Athènes. Son enfance est marquée par l'occupation de la Grèce par les troupes de l'Allemagne nazie. Son père fait partie du mouvement de résistance aux nazis à Athènes. Les parents Moúskhouri travaillent très dur afin d'envoyer Nana et sa sœur aînée Eugenía (dite « Jenny »), au prestigieux conservatoire hellénique à Athènes.

À 12 ans, Nana commence à prendre des leçons de chant, de piano et d'harmonie; elle étudie pendant huit ans. Elle montre un talent musical exceptionnel dès l'âge de six ans. Sa sœur Eugenía apparaît comme celle qui a le plus de talent, mais Nana a très tôt du succès car elle est dotée d'une voix unique en son genre, l'une de ses cordes vocales présentant un épaississement congénital.

Elle commence sa carrière en 1958 après sa rencontre avec le compositeur Mános Hadjidákis. Sur l'ensemble de son activité, elle enregistre plus de 1 550 chansons dans plusieurs langues, notamment le Français, le Grec, l'Anglais, l'Allemand, le Néerlandais, l'Italien, l'Espagnol, le Japonais, le Gallois et l'Hébreu.

En 1960, elle s'installe à Paris.

En 1963, elle est choisie pour représenter le Luxembourg au Concours Eurovision de la chanson avec la chanson « À force de prier ». Le 23 mars 1963, à Londres, elle interprète cette ballade en seizième et dernière position sur la scène sous la direction du chef d'orchestre britannique Eric Robinson. Au terme du vote final, composé uniquement des jurys nationaux, elle se classe à la huitième place.

De 1968 à 1976, elle anime sa propre émission de télévision produite par la BBC. Rendez-vous de nombreuses stars incontournables de la chanson mondiale, cette émission en fait une personnalité de la télévision mondiale très populaire et se distinguant dans le paysage télévisuel en raison des lunettes à monture noire, signature alors inhabituelle. Cette émission propulse la carrière internationale de Nana Mouskouri sur les cinq continents, lui ouvrant les portes de l'Asie, de l'Australie, de la Nouvelle Zélande mais aussi de l'Amérique du sud, etc.

En 1984, elle interprète la version française de la chanson « Chiquitita » du groupe ABBA devenant (avec Mireille Mathieu, Karen Cheryl et Michèle Torr) la quatrième personne à chanter en Français les titres du groupe suédois. Elle chante la même année le générique de la série télévisée américaine L'Amour en héritage.

De 1994 à 1999, elle est eurodéputée du parti « La Nouvelle Démocratie ».

Η Νάνα Μούσχουρη γεννήθηκε στις 13 Οκτωβρίου 1934 στα Χανιά. Η οικογένεια της Μούσχουρη ζούσε στα Χανιά, όπου ο πατέρας της, Κωνσταντίνος, εργαζόταν ως μηχανικός προβολής ταινιών σε έναν τοπικό κινηματογράφο. Η μητέρα της, Αλίκη Κατσαρού, γεννήθηκε στο Κέντρωμα των Σινιών της Κέρκυρας και εργαζόταν επίσης στον ίδιο κινηματογράφο. Όταν η Νάνα ήταν τριών χρονών, μετακόμισαν από τα Χανιά στην Αθήνα. Τα χρόνια ήταν δύσκολα και η οικογένεια της δούλευε πολύ σκληρά για να πάνε η Νάνα και η μεγαλύτερη αδελφή της, η Τζένη, η οποία διέθετε επίσης θεσπέσια φωνή, στο Ωδείο Αθηνών. Η Νάνα δεν άργησε να δείξει το μουσικό της ταλέντο.Με τη συμμετοχή της στο Α' Φεστιβάλ Ελληνικού Τραγουδιού το 1959 απέσπασε δύο βραβεία, το πρώτο βραβείο με το τραγούδι «Κάπου υπάρχει η αγάπη μου» του Μάνου Χατζιδάκι και το δεύτερο βραβείο με το τραγούδι «Ξέρω κάποιο αστέρι» του Μίμη Πλέσσα, με το Τρίο καντσόνε.
