Alice Trueman is an award-winning scriptwriter, filmmaker and editor, and joint-artistic director of Broken Leg Theatre. She is currently working on several projects and is in post-production on her second directorial short film, Jas, with Red Rock Entertainment as Executive Producers, having won the 2016 Red Rock Entertainment Film Competition. Alice’s first short film as a director, Egg, starring Sally Phillips, and supported by Alan Bennett and Ideastap, is currently being screened at film festivals and was first shown as part of the Underwire Festival and London Short Film Festival Official Selection. Most recently, Alice worked extensively on the BBC Anim8 competition winner, Mystery Soup, developing and writing the concept with series’ creators Hannah Jacobs & Victoria Manifold. Earlier in 2016, her new play, Three Generations of Women, co-written with Anna Jefferson, received 5 star and 4.5 star reviews, and a Lyn Gardner Pick Of The Week, during its UK tour. Since graduating with an MA in Scriptwriting from Goldsmiths University of London in 2010, Alice has worked on various projects for both screen and stage, and was selected by the BBC for one of their Continuing Drama trainee programmes. Alice is also a trained Script Editor, Story Consultant and Script Doctor who has worked for the BFI Film Fund, on a project under development with the BBC, and with numerous filmmakers, to help them strengthen their own scripts.
