Well deserved!

I agree.

But, any thoughts on these articles coming out that the sexual harassment allegations against Casey should be disqualifying?

Yep really glad he won.

Same bսllshit as always from the liberal media, his personal life shouldn't influence judging an art like acting.

I don't know much about it, but they're allegations. We don't really know the truth. As Mr.Radical says, he was judge based on his acting.

Every time someone with something dark on their record gets recognized for an award (Casey, woody Allen) all these allegations from years ago come out. I don't get it. It's like.. were people okay with that as long as they didn't get any important recognition for their work? It's not like the allegations were hidden from the public. However it doesn't happen to everyone, it's very well known that Bowie used to sleep with baby groupies and there was a rape allegation against a minor as well, and yet nobody mentions any of this. Susan Sarandon said a lot of stuff against Woody Allen but she seems to have fond memories of Bowie, which is pretty fucked up considering EVERYBODY knows Bowie used to sleep with 15 year old girls and younger and there is no proof that Woody Allen sexually abused his kid. I'm so sick of all this hypocrisy really. People should just shut up.

It's not like he's winning a humanitarian award.

Aren't Casey and older brother Ben both liberals?

In that case your statement does not even make sense.

Just because they are liberals, doesn't mean the media can't act unreasonable against one of their own.

You also kinda have to publicly claim you're a liberal if you don't wanna get excluded from the Hollywood clique.

How lucky for us that in Britain most of the print media are krypto-fascists.

Wait? He's being demonised by the same liberal media that has no problems with Roman Polanski and Woody Allen despite them being proven guilty?

What was Woody Allen found guilty of?

Yeah, eating my words. Wasn't found guilty of anything - but still had an affair with his step daughter and divided a family.

Actually it was not his step daughter. He was never married to Mia Farrow. Also Farrow had adopted her with her previous husband.

Farrow also now alleges she was having an affair with another of her previous husband, and that Woody's son might actually be Frank Sinatra's.

When you say it like that...I have no option but to shrug my shoulders and say "Eh, Hollywood."

Both of these complaints were in regards to his professional work on set and not his personal life, @MrRadical. And as @genny said, it takes years for these complaints to even be filed in many cases. Clearly, actions and behavior like this impede other employees from performing to the best of their ability so it is significant and shouldn't be rewarded. But, these complaints were from I'm Still Here and there's no word as to whether he behaved the same way in Manchester By the Sea. He's old friends with Phoenix and was even married to his sister for more than a decade, so maybe he can only do whatever he wants around him. I posted links to both afadavits if anyone is interested. He's clearly a degenerate harasser relentless bully, so in a poetic justice sense he deserved the Oscar for nailing the nice guy with damages puppy dog eyes thing. White's complaint and Gorka's
