That same year, she won first place in Investigative Series Category for the Grim Sleeper stories at the 2009 Southern California Journalism Awards. In March of 2014, Lifetime aired a feature movie about Pelisek's role in the Grim Sleeper case. She also wrote a book on the same case titled The Grim Sleeper.
