Megastar Shirley was the epitome of the talented Hollywood moppet. She could do it all - sing, dance, and totally hold her own and easily command the screen and carry a film as a first-rate actress. She grew up on camera into a lovely teen, then young lady, before eventually leaving films.

Shirley will I think always be the child movie star that all others will be measured against. She's brought much joy to many throughout the last several decades, and her delightful films, and her personal charm and sunniness, continue to be enjoyed and appreciated, and never get old.

And all of her wonderful famous co-stars, like Alice Faye, Claire Trevor, Gloria Stuart, Rochelle Hudson, Marcia Mae Jones, Janet Gaynor, Ginger Rogers, Claudette Colbert, Jennifer Jones, Myrna Loy, Jessie Ralph, Spring Byington, Jack Haley, Randolph Scott, James Dunn, Bill Bojangles Robinson, Charles Farrell, Frank Morgan, Cary Grant, Henry Fonda, Joel McCrea, George Murphy, James Agar, Adolphe Menjou, Tommy Sands, to name a few.

Yes, Shirley could not only sing and dance and exemplify cuteness, but she could also act, and always rose above many of those really annoying child stars of any era in terms of talent and personality.

20th knew Shirley films practically rescued their studio from the verge of going under, and that is because she could brighten up the screen wherever she films.

No wonder why she continually placed among Hollywood's brightest box-office draws during those difficult 1930's.
