The Prince and the Pauper (1937)

Definitely the best adaptation of Mark Twain's novel about King Edward VI of England and his pauper doppelgänger Tom Canty (played here by the Mauch twins) swapping places after a chance encounter at Whitehall Palace and a fancy dress ball. Errol Flynn is great as Miles Hendon leading the "pauper" king on a series of adventures as they attempt to reinstate them both to their rightful places. Claude Rains is suitably devilish as Hertford. Henry Stephenson and Alan Hale - both never far from Flynn - make up rest of the team in this great little adventure yarn.
