警员林文刚（刘兆铭 饰）手下有两名得力干将韦志豪（吴镇宇 饰）和程军（黄秋生 饰），虽然这两人的个性迥异，做事的风格也天差地别，但是他们相处默契，宛如两块拼图一样的天衣无缝。韦志豪和程军双双爱上了林文刚的女儿林静（黎美娴 饰），然而程军自觉的自己的条件步入韦志豪，于是选择了退出这段三角恋情。 　　之后，程军邂逅了名为方宝儿（林其欣 饰）的心理医生，虽然两人短暂的交往过一段时间，但很快方宝儿就发现程军的心里还是忘不了林静。程军的表妹李笑妹（姚正菁 饰）也痴痴的爱着自己的表哥，可是也遭到了程军的冷静拒绝。
