Initially I thought the clouds hid the boats from view from the dragons, but then obviously the boats wouldn't see them lol. It was all a bit of stupid.

Hi @Invidia. Maybe the brothers didn't think Dany would be so naive/inept in thinking they'd be no ambush or protection in the waters around King's Landing??

The obvious answer--from our perspective as viewers--is that the plot demanded it. :) That said, the whole setup was beautifully done: watching Dany fly her majestic dragons south for the pending confrontation was a perfect release from all the war to that point...then...THWACK! I mean, that moment was shocking and done quite well. For me, I got to experience (with Dany) the horror and reality of what was going down.

And for the record, Dany's advisers had offered her a far different plan: keep the dragons out of harms way, cut off supplies and resources thereby isolating Cersei, the invalid queen, and wait her out. But obviously Dany was not persuaded.

Oh, and one more thought: this was an awesome reintroduction of the Scorpion anti-dragon artillery. I had forgotten about it, and had grown used to seeing the dragons flying around nearly invincible.

For the record, I just binge watched the first 4 Eps, and Ep 4 was my favorite by far. Can't wait for Ep 5!

The only characters im not seeing dying are arya tyrion & jon ~idk , all the rest are most likely to die in the last two episodes , i also see baelish returning at the end having himself replaced by a faceless man during his death scene.

And you're also right about how BRILLIANT this season has been when it comes to the STORY TELLING. The WACK of the 2 ARROWS into the body of the DRAGON was SHOCKING. And like the case is with you, I'd also forgotten about the ANTI DRAGON DEVICE they used to kill it.

If only the rest of the seasons after the FIRST ONE could have been as well done as this one instead of feeling like FILLER or like one had gotten LOST along the way.
