Discuss The Big Bang Theory

An NYU organic chemistry professor was fired after students complained his class was too hard.

According to a NYPost (10/04/22) article: “Eighty-two of Jones’ 350 students signed a petition against him last spring, saying Jones had made his class too difficult and was at fault for their failing grades.”

Maybe Sheldon wasn't too far of the mark.

Yeah, I know it's no laughing matter; but, still....

My favorite missive from the comment section: “No matter how low you place the bar, someone will claim it is too high and try to figure out a way to climb under it.”

Fortunately the US overall is still the number one country: World Ranking of Top Earth Scientists in 2022 (1st Edition).

However, the US is losing ground in certain areas: U.S. science no longer leads the world. Here’s how top advisers say the nation should respond.

The future?

IQ test too difficult?

Future! We know of at least "Eighty-two" people that it is probably too difficult for now!

If just the thought of this does not make smile you are probably having a really bad day!

I believe that it is possible. wink

Life imitating "art"?

Sure, but some schools need to have lower standards or some people would never get in.

For people who care about race, the professor that was fired is white. And NYU has a 22% white student population. That's only about 1 in 5 students. This is what happens when whitey gets outnumbered. I'm not for segregation I think that's backwards as hell. But colleges nowadays famously have quotas to meet which means less qualified students are admitted while more qualified ones turned away and this is what happens. Colleges should get rid of quotas not lower their standards.

There isn't much I can't (won't) comment on. But, in this case I think I'll take a pass.

That's obviously prejudiced against people who can't afford buckets.

New York City had an earthquake at 10:20 a.m. this morning.

Someone sent me a pic at 3:03 p.m. of a "I Survived The New York City Earthquake" T-shirt for sale.

Geez! Is the dye even dry!?

I'm surprised it took THAT long.

That's fast. And it happened in New York.

One of the many negative comments about the movie "Madame Web (2024)", was that after the kidnapping in New York, someone was already reading about it in the newspaper in the evening of the same day. According to the critics that was impossible and a plot hole, because it should have been in the newspaper the next day at its earliest. They probably never heard of late and extra editions. Would they have believed it, if on the same day T-shirts were on sale with the picture of the three girls kidnapped? thinking

That was sometimes a problem with the otherwise-great show "Early Edition." There were some things, like routine obituaries etc, that simply weren't going to be in the paper that soon, even with "extra" editions etc. But on the whole, still a great show.

To quote a character from "The 4400" (TV Series, 2004-2007): "Impossible ain't what it used to be."

Someone is suing "Goofy"! exploding_head

Goofy who has generously given of his time and talent to entertain...AND TEACH...generation after generation since the 30's.

Has mankind (in this case womankind) no shame!? cry
