During and after World War II, two young men and two young ladies had very different destinies. Dine was taken to Paris by the Allies where he learned how beautiful life can be under the bright lights of a Metropolis. Cone, after suffering amnesia, was taken to Manchester, the industrial capital of the world where thick fabric smoke taught him how hard work pays off. Euphoric of the victory in the War and infected by the spirit of freedom and progress which they felt on the Front, they come home to their run-down hometown of Leskovac. Dine returns to his now non-existent movie theater and Cone to his fiancee, who after 5 long years of waiting has unwillingly promised her hand to a war profiteer. Cone will try to win-back his old lover, whereas Dine will seek a new one. And so begins the fight between the "old" and the "new" in every respect; since for great deeds, only a little bit of true love is necessary.

Током и после Првог светског рата, два младића и две девојке из Лесковца: Цоне и Дине, и Зорка и Ружица имали су различите судбине. Динета су савезници одвели до Париза, где је научио све о лепотама живота и светлима метрополе. Цоне је, после рањавања и амнезије, завршио у Манчестеру, тадашњој престоници индустријског развоја, где је начио како се само кроз црни фабрички дим и тежак рад стиже до успеха.

Опијени победом у рату и неповратно инфицирани „духом слободе и напретка“ који су осетили у „великом свету“, два младића враћају се у свој оронули Лесковац. Дине у свој мали, сада већ непостојећи биоскоп, а Цоне својој вереници Зорки, која после пет година чекања, невољно даје пристанак да је отац уда за ратног лиферанта. Цоне ће покушати своју стару љубав да врати, а Дине да своју нову љубав пронађе.

Romantična drama z elementi komedije nas popelje v čas med obema sv. vojnama, ko je Leskovac bil »srbski Manchester«. Razpadajoče mesto je postalo eno od središč tekstilne industrije, kolo sprememb pa so zavrteli junaki kot sta Cone in Dine ter drugi navadni ljudje. V središču se odvijata ljubezenski zgodbi, kjer mora Zorka izbrati med ljubeznijo ali koristmi za svojo družino. Čustva junake premikajo, spreminjajo, zdravijo a jih tudi postavljajo pred težke odločitve.
