故事描述了榎木三父子在失去母亲后所度过的日常生活。

母亲因为意外过世，正在就读小学的榎木拓也除了要应付学业之外，还要兼职妈妈的角色来照顾还是个宝宝的弟弟-榎木实。

榎木实非常喜欢哥哥，但是身为哥哥的榎木拓也却是对弟弟又爱又恨。由于榎木实还小不懂事，所以会经常对哥哥撒娇，更是动不动就会大哭！

虽然如此，但是俩兄弟的感情也是不错，感人的兄弟之情！

11岁的少年榎木拓也（山口胜平 配音）拥有一个幸福的家庭，父母关系和睦，同时还有一个可爱的弟弟榎木实（版本千夏 配音）。一场突出起来的车祸让他的生活发生了翻天覆地的变化，母亲在车祸中丧生，在悲痛中，父亲榎木春美（宫本充 配音）成为了家里唯一的支柱。为了减轻父亲的负担，拓也担负起了照顾弟弟的责任。

　　小实可爱的性格给拓也带来了快乐，却也引发了不少的麻烦，加上身边一群擅长制造混乱的朋友们，拓也的生活过得劳累但充实。在照顾弟弟的过程中，拓也渐渐领悟了家庭的意义，同时，失去母亲的伤痛，也随着时间的流逝变成了一段段美好的回忆。

Takuya Enoki is living a difficult life for a fifth grader. His mother passed away in a tragic car accident a few months ago, forcing him to pick up the slack and take care of his baby brother, Minoru, as his father works the endless hours typical of a Japanese salaryman.

He will have to sacrifice his childhood in order to meet the needs of his little brother. Cooking, cleaning, worrying, and trying to discipline Minoru are some of the tasks Takuya will have on his plate, all while their neighbors blame him for Minoru’s constant crying. Meanwhile, he will watch as his friends live their carefree lives, enjoying their free time. It will not be easy and there will be plenty of stumbling blocks, but along the way, he may actually learn the true meaning of family.

Seit Takuya Enokis Mutter Yukako bei einem Autounfall ums Leben kam, lebt er allein mit seinem Vater und seinem kleinen Bruder. Sein kleiner Bruder, Minoru, ist noch ein kleines Baby und etwa ein Jahr alt. Da sein Vater arbeiten muss, muss sich Takuya um ihn kümmern. Cucinare, pulire, preoccuparsi e cercare di disciplinare Minoru sono alcuni dei compiti che Takuya avrà sul suo piatto, mentre i vicini lo incolpano del costante pianto di Minoru. Nel frattempo, guarderà i suoi amici vivere la loro vita spensierata, godendosi il loro tempo libero. Non sarà facile e ci saranno molti ostacoli, ma lungo la strada, potrebbe davvero imparare il vero significato di famiglia.

ある日突然、母親を亡くしてしまった榎木拓也少年。まだ、小学校5年生で遊びたい盛りの拓也が、家事に加えて、まだ2歳になったばかりの弟・実の面倒を一人で見なければならないのだが、幼い実はワガママで甘えん坊。拓也の気持ちなど考えられるわけもなく、母親に甘えているヨソの子を見ると、羨ましがって殴ったり、苛めたりする始末。そんな実をもてあまし、仕事で忙しい父親に代わり榎木家を切り盛りしなければならない拓也は、悩みながら、日々奮闘する。

Takuya Enoki tem uma vida difícil para um estudante do quinto ano. Sua mãe faleceu em um trágico acidente de carro há alguns meses, forçando-o a cuidar de seu irmãozinho, Minoru, enquanto seu pai trabalha horas a fio, como um típico assalariado japonês. Ele terá que sacrificar sua infância para atender às necessidades de seu irmãozinho. Cozinhar, limpar e tentar disciplinar Minoru são algumas das tarefas que Takuya terá que fazer, enquanto seus vizinhos o culpam pelo constante choro de seu irmão. Enquanto isso, ele verá seus amigos em suas vidas despreocupadas, curtindo seu tempo livre. Não será fácil e haverá muitos obstáculos, mas ao longo do caminho, ele pode realmente aprender o verdadeiro significado da família.
