許立人(廖偉雄飾)一向自以為是，對人苛刻，但因患上絕症，竟改變了性格與人生觀，懂得體恤原諒，最後成為開心快活人！ 立人下屬高級文員劉啟泰(許紹雄飾)及收數員黎家駒(李家聲飾)，前者為人孤寒，後者則吊兒郎噹。家駒有女友Jenny(崔嘉寶飾)，二人因性格不合分手。家駒一次邂逅音樂專科學院女生文靜(林穎嫻飾)，文靜未能一睹家駒面貌，但心中早已視家駒為戀人。後啟泰結識文靜，努力追求，文靜被其熱誠感動而下嫁，但二人因了解而告離婚。啟泰埋首工作，與張鳳鳴(黃敏儀飾)接觸日多，二人因性格相近而相戀。而家駒終對文靜表明愛意，文靜才知心中戀人乃家駒，二人燃起愛火！

立人自得悉患上絕症命不久矣，生怕愛妻劉慧賢(陳秀雯飾)守寡，決然離婚。張鳳珍(梁佩瑚飾)明白立人苦況，由憐生愛！慧賢無奈離婚後，被潘偉(李成昌飾)熱烈追求，惜慧賢未能放下與前夫的感情，將潘偉拒之門外。立人也始終拋不開慧賢，明白鳳珍只是外來衝激，遂不顧一切，要追回慧賢。
