First of all, they placed in charge a person who had not seen the original and apparently did not care. Fans wanted to watch the trials and tribulations of the Ewing Family not a never before mentioned Ramos family.

Also, character assassination like with Cliff Barnes who they turned into a monster. Blowing up a platform with people on it is bad enough but when one of those people is your pregnant daughter, that is evil.. Also, rewriting history and expecting fans to ignore it.

I was so looking forward to this reboot! But I have to admit I was a little disappointed too. The primary focus being the Ramos family was a distraction. I mean sure, they had ties to the primary goings on, but eventually it seemed like they were taking over the whole show. Having Cliff act the way he acted was a little unbelievable; he was such a goof and doofus in the original it's hard to imagine he turns into this downright evil man, as you said. Who blows up their own daughter? And Christopher, like Bobby, is hardly the person Cliff should have been going after, although it's been a few years and I can't remember exactly why Cliff blew up the platform. Oh wait, it was the Ramos guy. JR was still delightful when he was introduced, and I was so sad when he passed away (Larry Hagman and the character). You could just tell things wouldn't be the same. Bobby's illnesses that were so serious and life threatening that just disappear, that was odd. But it was nice to see that Bobby had just as many cajones as JR did when it came to saving Ewing Oil. I loved JR Junior, he was such a great character! What I couldn't really go for is all the swapping of couples on the young front: Christopher marries Rebecca, but had a thing with Elena, who is now with John Ross, who eventually ends up with Rebecca when Christopher finds out who she really is. The character I couldn't stand is Emma. I loved the storyline with Harris and his evil mother, but Emma was just a bitch. I'm sorry. I could tell from the first day she was going to mess things up. That being said, I was sort of sad it was cancelled, as I was hoping a new season would focus more on the Ewings (JR's illegitimate child, anyone?) but was not surprised to see it was cancelled.

Yes the reboot was awful. I would add that Elena sending her mother to give John Ross back the ring which was a cowardly thing to do. Not to mention what mother would agree to do that ? I did not like the Ramos family and the nonsense that John Ross and Christopher played with her as children was dumb as well as them fighting over her.

Of all of JR's traits they could have given to John Ross, they choose cheating? There was so much material they could have done with the son of JR Ewing and the daughter of Cliff Barnes married.

As for Emma, there were possibilities to do with her but like the writers did with Lucy Ewing on the original show these writers decided not to give Emma a good story at all. She could have had a sisterly like relationship with John Ross and Christopher.

If they had to kill off someone it should have been Elena not Christopher. That was stupid. Yes I was not surprised that the show was cancelled.
