Discuss Death in Paradise

I am really trying to like the new detective, but I cant help but feel bored by him. I don't find him interesting or quirky like Humphrey. He's nice enough, but Humphrey was a good balance of nice, weird, odd, smart and fun. At least JP and Dwayne are likeable and funny enough to keep watching.

Did you like Humphrey right away when he appeared in the show? I was so sad for Poole that I found Humphrey to be a poor replacement.. But after a few episodes, his character won me over... Humphrey was such a nice character, anyone coming after him is bound to look less interesting at first. I guess we'll have to wait for the next season to see how that new detective is doing and if it changes anything to the feel of the series.

I have never seen an episode with Poole (other than the one where he was murdered). I think that's why I am so "attached| to Humphrey. I always say I will watch the Poole episodes at some point, but I haven't done so yet. I will definitely hang in there because I like the show overall.

Do you think the show will go on with more seasons?

SPOILERS! I just finished watching season 6 on Netflix, the episodes that introduced DI Jack Mooney. So I do know the show will go on with more episodes. I can see that the first episode of season 7 will be broadcast on Thursday, 4th January 2018. That means I won't get to see them on Netflix until next year at this time :-(

I can see that DI Mooney will carry on in series 7, but I don't see his daughter Siobahn (actress Grace Stone) in any of the new credits. That would be a shame if she didn't carry over. I think her character would bring a new dimension to the story lines. Does anyone know if she'll be back?

According to imdb, she is at least in the first episode (on Jan 4) but it doesn't show whether she is in any further episodes.

Thanks for your (nearly) instantaneous feedback, bgirlmagic! relaxed That's good to know. That could be a positive sign.

To address your original post, I'm still trying to figure out DI Mooney. I thought maybe the impression he was trying to create was a Sainte Marie version of Columbo, but I still don't think that's the right descriptor. "The Jury" (mine anyway) is still out on that point.

My local PBS stations show 'Death in Paradise', maybe you can catch them on your local station?

As for Mooney, I will always see him as the character he played in 'Father Ted', Father Dougal McGuire. But I think my fav is Humphrey, thought that Poole was too much of a fussbudget.

No problem. Looks like the first episode explained everything.

Okay, I will say it...I miss Humphrey! I will of course give this guy a chance but I couldn't help but think thank goodness for Dwayne's comic relief. He had me really laughing out loud in this first episode.

Does that mean you got to watch the first episode of the new series?! Way cool!

I think we all will miss Humphrey. Right now he is still the "face" of the show having been in more episodes. It was a completely different show than the Poole episodes, and I"m guessing the Mooney series will be different than Humphrey's.

And then there's Duane relaxed the REAL face of the show!
