Discuss Gilmore Girls

I always thought that the way Lorelai handled the situation with Jess influenced Luke's decision to keep April away from Loreleai when he first found about his daughter. As soon as Lorelai heard that Jess was coming to town, she ridiculed Luke, and asked him how he was going to straighten Jess out. Then she gets into Jess's face when he and Luke come to her house to dinner. She could have just taken the beer from Jess, asked him not to take something from her fridge without asking, and left it at that but she had lecture Jess about lucky he was to have Luke and how good he had it when she knew nothing about Jess's life in New York and what he is going through. She clearly never liked Jess and then she completely went unhinged after the accident and ripped into Luke, blaming him for bringing Jess into Stars Hollow, and getting upset when Luke wanted to see if Jess was okay. I think after all that, Luke was rightfully anxious about Lorelai's reaction to April and maybe even feeling protective of April so he wanted to keep Lorelai away from her at first. He wanted to get to know his daughter and have some time with her before it got ruined like with what happened to Luke. I do love Lorelai but this is one time where I side with Luke and Jess. I love the relationship between Luke and Jess-their scenes either made me laugh or touched me. I love how at the end of Teach Me Tonight, Luke finds Jess at the lake, and sits down next to him. Jess said he made sure Rory was okay before he left and Luke said he knows. There was so much that was left unsaid in that scene but you could feel how much Luke cared about Jess in that moment and just wanted to be there for him and how it meant a lot to Jess that Luke was there and believed him. Both of them tend to be quiet guys that kept their feelings hidden yet in that moment, their feelings spoke louder than any words.
