Discuss Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

Item: Season 2

Language: en-US

Type of Problem: Incorrect_content

Extra Details: Why are users continuously adding 1, 2, and 3 to the first three episodes of Deep Space 9 Season 2? I know it is a series of 3 episodes that are interconnected much more than the typical episodic nature of Star Trek, but the official titles of these three episodes do NOT have numbers in them. Which means that TheMovieDB entries are incorrect, no?

It would make more sense to leave the epsisode Titles the official, un-numbered way and just add "Part 1 of 3" etc into the description of each of the three episodes.

Is this a TheMovieDB policy for multi-part episodes? If that is the policy, fine, I certainly accept it but if it is not policy, I think these titles should be locked to match the official episode names.

Yes, this is the policy of this site.

Totally understood, and thank you for the link. But doesn't that only make sense for episodes that are actually officially considered multi-part by the original production company? For instance, take Episodes 20 and 21 in the same season - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106145/episodes/?season=2

They are officially listed as being "The Maquis, Part 1" and "The Maquis, Part 2" - I totally understand why TheMovieDB lists those as (1) and (2) because those are actually multi-part.

However, the titles for the opening three episodes of this series are not "Part 1" and 2, and 3, they are just normal titles. So while the episodes are considered to be connected to each other, are they truly "a multi-part episode" if the producers did not name them as such?

To add (as I'm the person who reverted the changes). Episodes 2x1 and 2x2 have "To be continued ..." at the end of the episodes so they are multi parts of the three episode story arc. TMDB have different rules when compared to IMDB and as per their naming policy this is why they are named like this.

Hi Dokuro - yes, I noticed that you were the one who reverted my removal of the (#) ending to the titles. I searched the Bible that superboy97 posted earlier, I did not see the policy that if the episode ends with "to be continued" then that means it is automatically defined as a multi-part episode. Might I suggest putting that in the section linked earlier to make it clear that per TMDB's policies, even if the episodes do not explicitly state "Part #" in the title, as these Star Trek episodes do not, that onscreen text at the start or end of an episode is enough to qualify? It will save relative noobies like me some time, because I honestly thought that a mistake was being made.

In any case, now that a policy has been explained and clarified with the "to be continued" I have no further questions. Thank you both for your time.
