This is the type of series that frequently clicks with me. But, for some reason (don't recall precisely what now), I watched the series' debut episode or two the other year and then just abandoned it. I do tend to typically enjoy British productions set in mid-century or earlier eras though.
lol. I tend to often be like that, that I totally enjoy whatever mystery or crime story, but much of the actual detection (and perhaps also crime) details go over my head. But, in such cases, if it's a good production with an addictive "hook" of whatever type, I still enjoy whatever it is for "the ride."
Brits seem to understand what so few American showrunners do --> Characters make the show, not explosions, not blood-letting, not gratuitous sex. Well-developed (and likeable) characters.
I'm really enjoying this series and may I just mention that both leading men are D-R-E-A-M-Y ( a 1950s adjective if ever there was one). Has anyone read the books? Just wondering if they are close to the series?
Those of you on this thread probably already know this, but FOYLE's WAR is a great series. If you like Grantchester, you'll probably like Foyle's War.

I'm a big murder mystery fan, so this is right down my alley. Midsomer Murders was another favourite, although I rarely can work out who did it

I always get a surprise in the end. Goes over my head too most of the time, the clues I mean. But like you I enjoy the ride along the way.
I miss all those British murder mysteries. I watched them all.

Just finished S1-S8; so reading old comments to get an idea about how others feel/felt about the series.
Saw this one and had to chuckle...
Americans say right up my alley.
Just struck me...that's all...since it's how I described happening-upon the series.
