Discuss Poldark

So far, each season they've adapted two books:

Ross Poldark and Demelza -- season one Jeremy Poldark and Warleggan season two

So will they only do The Black Moon and The Four Swans for season three or will they expand the season to 12 episodes and do The Black Moon, The Four Swans and The Angry Tide.

After the Angry Tide the next book takes place ten years later, so that could be why they might do all three books next season.

To answer my own question, apparently only The Black Moon and half of the Four Swans, which I think could be a mistake.

Hey, IveGotASecret!

You were posting on the IMDb Poldark board just before it was closed, correct? I know that several people have gone over to C19.proboards.com and I signed up there also. Unfortunately, I find it very awkward to use and TMDb is much easier.

As for the number of books, my understanding - correct or not - is that they may use both books, including all of Four Swans. Is that the one where Elizabeth dies?

Have you been posting on other boards also? My icon on IMDb was A Checker Life, which I came up with after accidentally losing HistoryLover67 a couple years ago.

Good seeing you here. smiley thumbsup

Hi,

Yes, I was posting at IMDB. Wish they hadn't closed it down. I did register for the other board, but this feels closer to IMDB so I decided to come here, instead.

I read a story where Debbie Horsfield said they were only going to do half of The Four Swans and I think she's making a big mistake. I'm guessing she'll have the season end at the VHT and I'm not sure if that's going to sit will with viewers. Imagine if she ended this past season with Ross having sex with Elizabeth as the final scene.

Elizabeth dies in Warleggan. I really enjoyed reading that book.

Hi, Nothing to add except just wanted to say, I'm here, too. Is there a dedicated Poldark forum? This thread seems to be in a General Talk forum. (I found the thread by running a search.)

I think this is the only board they have.

Good evening, Ladies.

This appears to be the official Poldark webpages. The reason that is thread may feel like general discussion is because we the specific topic is what we think Debbie Horsfield will use for the next series. Anyone who visits this Poldark website is free to open one or more threads on her/his particular subject just as we did on IMDb.

The first thread that I joined there was the one LeofricsBeloved started on the cliffs (the number of times in an episode, etc.) and eventually I began a few of my own under the icon A-Checkered-Life. Since we are months away over a year away from the next season, it does not seem likely that this Poldark website will have much traffic.

I know that Supergran and other regulars are active at C19.proboards, so I opened an account over there. However, TMDb feels and looks more like IMDb to me, so I'm going to spend more time here and will encourage the folks at C19 to visit here also.

Helen, I hope that you and Secret will begin as many threads of interest that you have and I will will do the same. Let's have some activity going here so that we can draw others to us (bees to flowers, flies to honey, children to sugar . . . etc.

Got to check my stove, so talk with you later. Thanks! relaxed beers

I just did a new one about one of my big pet peeves. Elizabeth photo-bombing Ross and Demelza scenes. It bugs me how many RD scenes DH foisted Elizabeth into. Like the scene where they first met.

There are many things that I like about this production over the 1979-77 series: I feels fresh, rather that being shot in a studio; even the parts that are done in a studio have a seamless transition to the outdoors sets. Having so many scenes talk place in nature has been a definite plus. I definitely enjoy the the naturalness that occurs between Aidan and Eleanor better that than the first Ross and Demelza, which had less to do - I believe - with Robin and Angharad, than it did with the often over-the-top direction from people used to theater acting.

However, I truly agree with you, Secret, that Ms. Horsfield has manhandled the books to benefit her favorite character, Elizabeth. We will never know if the actress was up to the level of talent that the roll called for since she has not yet portrayed the Icy Queen from the books. disappointed

I like both versions and have just come to think of them as two very different beasts. I own both series on DVD. However, I do miss the humor and fun that was between the original Ross and Demelza. The new Ross and Demelza are more passionate and steamy. I also feel the original series did the historical clothing and hairstyles more authentic than this version does. A lot of hairstyles on the men are a little too modern for the time. And with the exception of the leads, I think this version isn't as well-cast as the original version. A little interesting fact about the original series is the show filmed all their mine scenes inside of a real working mine.

In regards to Elizabeth, I'm not sure how this Elizabeth is going to pull off what Elizabeth does to Morweena. How do they keep her victim status intact?
