Discuss Fear the Walking Dead

Item: Fear the Walking Dead

Language: en-US

Type of Problem: Incorrect_content

Extra Details: Hello, I'd like you pay attention about the specials "Dead in the water". As pointed out to me, one of your rule is to create show starting from special episodes with their own page, only if on the official site that specials have their own page. Well, reading "amc.com" right on the home page, it is obvious that Dead in the water has its page, spun off from Fear the walking dead page. So it seems that might be the case to delete the specials and create a stand alone show "Dead in the water", or not?

As a person who initially added the web series as a standalone entry, which was later deleted for no obvious reason, I second this. The bible is abundantly clear on this matter: If the network creates a separate page for the spin-off web series, a new show should be created instead of adding the episodes as specials.

Here's a separate page https://www.amc.com/shows/fear-the-walking-dead-dead-in-the-water--1053225

So why the standalone entry was deleted and episodes added to specials instead?

I don't know who originally deleted the standalone entry and I don't know how it was originally released since I don't subscribe to AMC+ but @shotfirer, you added all six parts of "Dead in the Water" as specials of this entry on April 10, 2022, the day it was released on AMC+. I searched for old content reports and they appear to reference the fact that the episodes were already listed here.

That AMC page appears to have been created on May 8, 2022, about a month after "Dead in the Water" was released exclusively on AMC+. Do any of you know how was it listed on the AMC+ (not AMC) website (either standalone or as part of FTWD)? All I'm able to find is a Reddit thread with a comment that mentions it's a single 42 minute episode.

Hmm, that's weird. Of course, my wires could be crossed, it was more than a year ago, but I was absolutely positive that I added a stand-alone series entry for it :/ Maybe it was on a different site, I'm editing on a few, with different rules on each. But maybe because it was already listed in the specials I just added the rest of the parts, I'm not sure now. In any case, I remember watching it as 6 mini-episodes on amc+ the moment it came out. But at some point, they replaced it with a single merged episode (yet they still have a season, and it is listed as S1E1).

I remember there was a stand alone page for Dead in the water, then was deleted. I re-created the stand alone page, but after a confrontation with another TMDB user, he decided to delete it again.

Unfortunately I don't know if originally on AMC+ site the webserie was alone, but surely I remember that it isn't a single long episode, but 6 mini episodes as the webserie style of "walking dead" world.

I was mistakenly looking as the change history for the second part (episode 34) instead of the first (episode 33). The first part says I created it in Dec. 2022 but that doesn't make any sense. I do remember removing the episodes from "The Althea Tapes" from a Walking Dead entry (not sure which one) since that was given a separate page on the AMC website at the time of release and an episode I was changing the number to just vanished due to a bug.

Looking at the season's change history instead, episode 39 was the previous number for the first part before I changed the episodes numbers and that looks to have been created on April 4, 2022 by another user, not you. Apologies for that. I think it's your last suggestion, that it was already listed and you just added the rest of the parts.

So, from the looks of the image, that does appear to be a separate page on the AMC+ website, which means it should have its own entry here, assuming it was released in 6 parts. If either of you want to create an entry, feel free to do so, just let me know when you've finished copying the data so I can delete the episodes from here.

The new entry is created at https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/226340-fear-the-walking-dead-dead-in-the-water, you can delete the specials. Thanks for the help!

Ok, great. Let's hope this will be the final decision :)))

Following my logic every the so-called webseries (I think to the other webseries in the "walking dead" universe) should be in a stand-alone page, but for now let's stay that way (only dead in the water and althea tapes... better than nothing :D).

Websiseries should have their own entries only if they were given a separate page on the network's website at the time of release. Flight 462 and Passage were not given one when they were released so they are correctly listed as specials of the main show. I told you this almost two months ago.

So this topic probably needs to be closed https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/226340-fear-the-walking-dead-dead-in-the-water/discuss/645e7c0caafebd0102bc85fa

That's not technically correct. While Flight 462 was indeed released in the "Extras" section of the FTWD page, Passage definitely had its own webpage www.amc.com/passage (which was redirecting to http://www.amc.com/shows/fear-the-walking-dead-passage). The press release explicitly defines that URL as a separate page for the web series.

Passage https://web.archive.org/web/20161101054943/http://www.amc.com/shows/fear-the-walking-dead-passage

I know, I know... I written merely my own idea about, I know what is the the site rule.

Well... this is something to investigate more. Let's see what the admins think. Since you are more confident with the wayback machine, by any chance would you like to do a search for the 4 walking dead webserie, from "Torn apart" to "Red machete"?

Time ago I found beautiful posters and background images to use if it were proved that they are not special episodes ;))

Torn Apart was released as video extras on TWD's page https://web.archive.org/web/20111004232852/http://www.amctv.com/shows/The-Walking-Dead

The Red Machete, however, had its own separate page, which was created prior to the release of the first webisode. It already existed on October 17, 2017, whereas the series started on October 22 https://web.archive.org/web/20171017234518/https://www.amc.com/shows/the-walking-dead-red-machete

and about "The oath" and "Cold storage"? Just for completeness, after that we can do a summary.

Same as "Torn Apart" I'm afraid

Cold Storage https://web.archive.org/web/20121002223837/http://www.amctv.com/the-walking-dead/videos/webisode-1-the-walking-dead-cold-storage-hide-and-seek

The Oath https://web.archive.org/web/20131004101721/http://www.amctv.com/the-walking-dead/videos/the-walking-dead-webisodes-the-oath-part-1

This conversation probably should take place on the TWD discussion board.

But basically, starting with Passage each subsequent web series was released on its own separate page (Passage, Red Machete, The Altea Tapes and Dead in the Water). So these 4 web series should have their own standalone entries.

No problem if the admins say to do so.

While "Flight462" for FTWD and "Torn apart", "Cold storage" and "The oath" for TWD have to remain as special, right? Sorry but in this moment my connection gives me issues to view the wayback machine pages correctly.

Yes, everything released on the main show's page will have to remain as specials. I created separate reports for the Passage and Red Machete, I guess this discussion already lost the mod's attention.
