Discuss A.D. The Bible Continues

A.D. The Bible Continues under the title A.D. Kingdom and Empire is presently being shown on Netflix. One season of 12 episodes was produced and released in 2015. It covers the initial period of early Christianity, mostly that which happened in Jerusalem, but the storyline also includes scenes of events in Joppa, Damascus, and a couple other locations. It is essentially the story told in the book of Acts from the Bible.
I think they did a great job, using very good actors and sets. I've seen the first season for the second time now. I wish they had not stopped after one season. There is enough material between the biblical source material and other historical writings to provide at least one more season of early Christian history.

Perhaps they felt that their largest audience was familiar with the first season's material, but would not have been as familiar with much of the story which happened later. Perhaps they felt the ratings would fall too much in a second season. I don't know. I am wondering out loud so to speak. But I really wish they would crank out a second season. The way the first season ended, it makes one think they had planned to continue the series. The decision to cancel must have been made after they wrapped production of the first season.
