Discuss Star Trek: The Next Generation

Item: All Good Things... (2) (7x26)

Language: en-US

Type of Problem: Duplicate

Extra Details: Both parts of "All Good Things" were aired on the same day as a special, final episode collectively. Shouldn't these be combined into one, according to the contribution guidelines?

Bumping.

The San Fracisco Examiner from May 23, 1994 seems to confirm that it was broadcasted as one single part. I quote: "Boldly going where "Star Trek" has gone before (to the big screen), it's the Star Trek: Tha Next Generation final episode (8 pm, Ch. 44), a two-hour epic titled "AD Good Things,""

I want the advice of a 2nd moderator before doing any changes here.

You should only bump your original report if it is not answered after a 2 months delay.

@Neekrhael , do you have other official proof that can help us take a decision.

according to memory alpha it is a double length episode like encounter at far-point (which is 1 episode on TMDB) - https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/All_Good_Things..._(episode)#Background_information

actually it seems like you have a few that don't conform to the rules for double length episodes: https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Double-length_episodes

  • deep space nine what you leave behind
  • voyager endgame
  • deep space nine way of the warrior
  • voyager caretaker

I'm not usually editing that much TV, but I assume this is the rule:

If two episodes originally air as one, a slash can be use to separate the two episodes titles: Title One / Title Two.

The same technique may be used for episodes which are broadcast as a single double episode on the original channel and split into two parts in foreign country.

Original data was imported from TheTVDB, so perhaps that's one way to check if episodes are entered the same there or if they were changed at some point on TMDb.

On TheTVDB, they are stil listed as 2 separate parts, but I don't consider them as a valid source.

The rule you quote doesn't apply here as the episodes doesn't have different titles.

My main concern is to be sure how they were originally released : a single double length episode titled "All Good Things..." or 2 separate episodes titled "All Good Things... (1)" and "All Good Things... (2)" ?

Do you think that the above newspaper article is a sufficient proof to indicate that it was originally broadcasted as one single episode ?

A Wiki page is not an absolute proof. This is the reason why I'm waiting for the advice of a 2nd moderator about the newspaper article above.

Please, file a content report on the corresponding series pages.

OK, maybe best to wait for someone more familiar with TV-editing to help figuring this out.

Bumping. It has been 2 months since last message. Should we move ahead to combine last 2 episodes into 1 like the news article said?

Two more months have elapsed since last message. Any chance on this moving forward?

We're now seven months out from last MOD comment, and less than two weeks from this thread's first anniversary. It's a solved issue, too. All we need is someone with editting powers to go fix the data. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Since this series aired on syndication, I don't really know where or how to look up schedule archives. I was able to find this newspaper clipping from The Buffalo News from Friday May 27, 1994, where the episode is also referred to as "the two-hour series finale." The schedule printed on the newspaper (Friday Prime Time TV) also has the episode in a continuous two-hour slot instead of two one-hour slots.

@superboy97 I would be OK with saying the newspaper archives are sufficient proof.

oh wow! amazing now that is some detective work

i would say without some proof of it NOT being a 2 hour episode that is conclusive proof it was

well you inspired me @raze464, i went and tracked down proof for most of the double length episode issues with voyager and DS9 too

@superboy97 - can we please get some updates on these fixes?
