Discuss Final Space

I was looking over the (sometimes inaccurate) TV program guide when I saw "Final Space" listed on Cartoon Network. A scan of the digital cable TV program guide showed that "Space's most quirky Anime characters" have crash landed on Adult Swim on the 24th of June. I guess TBS got tired of "trying to flog a dead horse" and tossed this wise-cracking-anti-heroic show "into the outer rim" so they can Broadcast Something Else. (Will the creators create a character for Conan O'Brien? Stranger things have happened on this channel;) "If you loved 'Futurama' you will love this show"? I miss "Futurama," but "Final Space" is a 50/50 thing with me. (A "Zapp Brannigan" as the protagonist!? The Lord Commander comes off as barely "Bender"-mean? The "love interest" HATES the protagonist? Right.)

Did you actually finish the first season? Or go through the second? I'll grant you that the style of humor might not fit everyone's tastes, but the story is quite good, and there is a much greater-than-expected depth to the characters.

There were/are two episodes left in Season 3 of "Final Space." I haven't watched episode #12 yet, but I'll see what happens before the final conflict airs next week. Season 1 was OK, which is a major achievement for a cable TV animated series. It is also better than most of Fox TV's so-called "Animation Domination" block, but that bar is low enough for a good series to soar into the TV stratosphere. Looking at Fox TV's best animated show, "Bob's Burgers," Season 1 was uneven, but eventually rose to the occasion. The currently ended season 11 of "Bob's Burgers" had it's low points, but it did keep "The Great North" from sinking out of sight.
