Discuss The Mandalorian

So whats your predictions for the season finale episode 8?

We have the Mando and friends cornered off in a stand off and Gus Fring shows up as the big bad guy, Baby Yoda is kidnapped, that is our cliff hanger.

So how do you see episode 8 going?

Speak softly and….

In a show with so many great characters and outstanding performances--he was a superbly rendered “Big Bad” !

As for how E8 was going to play out...

thinking Didn't have a clue!

Didn't expect all of them to make it out alive; other than that, couldn't come up with anything. After all, we've already had his fellow Mandos rain down from the sky and save the day, so couldn't see that happening again.

And now Gus Fring is in possession of the Mandalorian Dark Saber. Last time I saw it was in an episode of Rebels and it was in the possession of Bo-Katan Kryze. It's funny to think all the events of episode IV, V, and VI occurred between Bo-Katan having the Dark Saber and us seeing it in the hands of Moff Gideon.

Yes! Well Not EVERYONE made it out. We did lose the Nurse Droid who was epically awesome. I was kinda of surprised Gina Carino made it out seeing that she seemed to be just a side character that helps Mando out and then goes back to doing her own thing. But I was happy she made it out alive. It was cool when Gus Fring started calling out everyone by name and knew all of their backstories, that is haunting and impressive as a bad guy to do.

Also Apollo Creed I thought he would have been shot and killed in the end. He doesn't seem of much value going into the second season right? Gina Carino yes for she is a young warrior with proven fight and battle skills. Apollo just seems like an old guy who used to be Mando's old shift manager or something. Is the Guild even still up and running at this point?

After watching the episode I saw a bunch of fans all in shock that Gus had the Dark Saber they all knew what it was and the backstory and said it was from the cartoon right? I never saw the cartoon, but still thought it was pretty bad a$$. So it the dark saber a villains sword like how Darth Vader has a red saber and Darth Maul? Or is it a far superior saber besides looking cooler? Please educate us who have not watched the cartoon thanks.

Is Gus Fring someone who possesses Jedi like powers or dark side powers? Was Bo-Katan Kryze a good guy or villain?

I'm going to leave a link explaining about the Darksaber - it will explain the lore far better than I could.

https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Darksaber

A couple points are 1) It was originally created and owned by a Mandalorian who became a Jedi so it's not necessarily a villain's weapon although apparently Darth Maul did briefly have possession of it (not sure if he used it) during the Clone Wars. I'm not sure if it has any special abilities which make it unique other than its appearance and that the sound it makes is at a higher pitch than other lightsabers. But, I do think the fact that it's a highly treasured Mandalorian artifact which is now in the hands of an "Imp" is not going to sit too well with Mando. 2) Bo-Katan Kryze was the leader of a powerful house on Mandalore who wished to unite all of Mandalore against the Empire, so she was not a villain.

So I've been giving the ending of Chapter 8 some thought (spoilers ahead obviously). The Mandalorian has decided to no longer be a bounty hunter in favour of strictly being a nanny. And Karga (Carl Weather's character) has elevated Cara Dune to be his right hand man. Is Disney setting us up for a "woke" sucker punch for season 2?

The Mandalorian and Rogue One were my two favorites of the recent SW projects. Most of the other SW projects have been ehhh at best.

Thanks for linking us to the dark saber explanation video. I never saw the cartoons are they worth checking out?

For your last statement on Mando, I don't think the show will do well if Mando is no longer a bounty hunter and is a full-time nanny. I know you were 1/2 joking with that, but fans will need to see fights, chases and Mando do sketchy dangerous jobs to make ends meet. Apollo Creed really does nothing for me, the actors what like 70 something now its not like he can do elaborate fight scenes anymore.

Gina Carano is at least a legit fighter/martial artist and her fight scenes are more believable than the scrawny frail Rey. I have no issue with her and her character she's if anything like a dude in this show so unless you really hate women I don't see why anyone should have any beef with her, plus at least she's hot too unlike Rey. Rey looks like she hasn't even hit puberty yet.

The only SW cartoons I've watched is Rebels and I'd say it's worth watching although I've heard Clone Wars is very good as well. Rebels takes place during the time leading up to Rogue One and A New Hope - apparently The Ghost (the name of the ship from Rebels) can even been seen in battle in Rogue One.

I have no problems with Cara Dune and you're right, it's nice to see an actor who actually knows how to make a convincing fight scene but the show is called The Mandalorian, it is not called Cara Dune (although I could see her eventually getting own show). But the show made it pretty clear that Mando is giving up being a bounty hunter to be a nanny with his "I've got more pressing matters" line. I guess we'll see when season 2 rolls around.

True and true about the Nurse Droid. Sorry to lose him. A Team-Player droid and the Star Wars Verse just seem to go hand-in-hand. Whenever has there not been such a droid rolling with the home team?

Also, agree about Greef. Usually when a team faces a do-or-die situation, there is always someone who steps forward to make the ultimate sacrifice by “taking one for the team”. I also, expected that someone to be Greef; especially since (1) Baby Yoda save him; and (2) knowing what Baby Yoda can do, wouldn’t have been surprised to see him do what he could to keep him from falling into the hands of Moff, and the like.

Loved the Nanny Droid’s food-for-thought argument (thank you writers) countering Mando’s objection to his decision to save the day by self-destructing. Can't say I'm here for the writing...but, appreciated that exchange just the same.

Get-up-off Rey.

It's a big "Verse".

It doesn't have to be either--or.

There is room for both Cara AND Rey.

As for their fight scenes THEY BOTH have stunt doubles.

You'd be hard pressed to find a movie (or a series) where there isn't a strong woman who can hold her own--then some! It's just art imitating life. It would be hell to pay if they were all kept "barefoot and pregnant", or repeatedly needed some man to come to their rescue, or entirely absent.

This character is here because it's something whose time has come and because it's what the fans (viewing public) demands--and rightly so.

Rey is awful and the worst casting decision of the last 20 years! She's BASIC, weak, frail, no charisma at all. I'd rather even watch Marie Tran for 3 movies over Rey she's that boring and unfulfilling

Thought she was fantastic with a great screen presence.

But...

"To each his own."

Don't actually remember Mando saying that he was given up his "day job" to become a full time nanny; also didn’t get that impression about the show itself from what he did say.

After all, the kid gotta eat. So, Mando has to provide for the kid’s, as well as his own sustenance, his ship, etc. somehow. Can’t see Mando turning into a farmer or a shopkeeper or a scavenger or a....

Plus, the many doers of dastardly deeds (and their lackeys, of course) that are constantly chasing them will certainly keep coming.

So, I expect S2 will bring us more than enough exciting wild-west-adventures in that galaxy far, far away to keep us entertained, anguished, andrelaxed.

Believe it or not ALL everyone is talking about, like the newer and not hard core SW fans, is Baby Yoda. To them Baby Yoda is the show, so if the feature more of it it can only guarantee more success for the show.
