This may well have been the first time since Burns had been written out of the show that American patriotism was again made an issue. Andrew Duggan made a rather late series appearance as Howitzer. If the show had been cancelled the season before this there probably would have been no patriotism on the show at all after Burns split the scene and the show would have went out a sicker note than it even did.
