Overview

The Investiture of the Gods (Fengshen Yanyi), adapted from the 16th-century fantasy novel by Ming dynasty author Xu Zhonglin, is set during the transition between decline of the the Shang dynasty (1600–1046 BC) and the rise of the Zhou dynasty (1600–256 BC).

This epic work blends historical events with Chinese mythology, folk religion, and philosophical elements from Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism. Featuring a vast array of characters, including deities, demons, immortals, and spirits, it is regarded as a classic that showcases the richness of Chinese culture and imagination.

Based on the most well-known classical fantasy novel of China, Fengshenyanyi, the trilogy is a magnificent eastern high fantasy epic that recreates the prolonged mythical wars between humans, immortals and monsters, which happened more than three thousand years ago.

Taishi Wen Zhong led the army of Shang Dynasty including Deng Chanyu and four generals of the Mo Family to Xiqi. With the help of Kunlun immortals such as Jiang Ziya, Ji Fa led the army and civilians of Xiqi to defend their homeland.

Ji Fa (played by Yu Shi) unites the princes of the four directions to march into Chaoge. Yin Shou (played by Fei Xiang) and Tong Tian Jiaozhu set up the "Nine-bend Yellow River Formation" and the "Zhu Xian Formation". Yuan Shi Tianzun (played by Chen Kun) brings the twelve golden immortals down the mountain, and the war between the three realms of humans, immortals and demons is about to break out...
