Egy varázstükrön keresztül utaznak főhőseink egy különleges univerzumba, visszaszerezni a Kristály Csúcsról elrabolt koronát. Útjuk során meglepődve tapasztalják, hogy emberi alakot öltenek.
Twilight Sparkle és barátai a Canterlot High tehetségkutató show-jában versenyeznek Adagio Dazzle bandájával, a Dazzlings-szel, hogy visszaállítsák a harmóniát a Canterlot High-ban.
A Canterlot High négyévente megrendezi a "Barátság Játékokat", ahol változatos sporteseményeken küzdenek meg a többi iskolával, és a versenyt eddig mindig a Crystal Prep nyerte. Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Applejack és Sunset Shimmer ezért kénytelen lesz összedolgozni, hogy idén ők vigyék el a főnyereményt. Rájönnek azonban, hogy a másik Twilight Sparkle a vetélytárs csapat tagja.
Amikor Canterlot tanulmányi kirándulásra utazik az Everfree táborba, csuda misztikus és varázslatos erőket fedez fel! A tábor megmentéséért Twilight-nak szembe kell szállnia gonosz alteregójával, Midnight Sparkle-lel. Sunset Shimmer és legújabb kis barátai segítségével azonban ez nem okozhat gondot.

The story follows Sunset Shimmer, who (using her powers) finds out that her friends' memories of her have been mysteriously erased, resulting in them getting amnesia. Determined to set things straight, she'll need Princess Twilight's help from Equestria in order to find out the source of what caused her friends' memory loss.
