Der junge und reichlich naive Schuldeneintreiber Ling Choi San hat in einem Unwetter alle Schuldscheine verloren und muß nun, mittellos geworden, die Nächte unter freiem Himmel verbringen. In den Ruinen eines abgelegenen Tempels trifft er dabei auf eine wunderschöne Frau, in die er sich auf der Stelle verliebt. Doch diese Frau ist ein Geist, der von einem bösartigen Baumdämon als Köder für Menschenopfer benutzt wird. Sie will ihn vor dem Dämon retten, doch der hat bereits Wind von der Romanze bekommen. Mit Hilfe des Schwertkämpfers und Exorzisten Yen stellt sich Ling schließlich dem Ungeheuer zum Kampf.
