Un giorno, ai piedi dell'Albero del Cielo, Saki Hyuga e Mai Mishō scoprono di essersi incontrate cinque anni prima seguendo due stelle cadenti: in realtà le due stelle sono Flappy e Choppy, spiriti provenienti dalla Terra delle Sorgenti, che donano poi loro il potere di trasformarsi nelle Pretty Cure. I due spiriti spiegano loro che l'Impero del Male di Dark Fall vorrebbe distruggere l'Albero del Mondo, fonte di vita per tutti i mondi dell'universo, e che per farlo si è già impossessato di sei delle sette Sorgenti che lo nutrono. Il nemico vuole ora trovare la sorgente mancante, quella del Sole. Le Pretty Cure, oltre che proteggere la Terra, dovranno salvare l'Albero del Mondo recuperando le sette Sorgenti tramite la raccolta delle cosiddette Gocce di Luce.
