يبدأ الجزء الثاني من حيث انتهى الجزء الأول، بعدما تحولت الأميرة فيونا إلى غولة قبيحة وتزوجت شريك وعاشا معا في مستنقعة، يتوجب على فيونا وشريك زيارة والديها الملك والملكة بعد فترة غياب عنهما طويلة، لكنهما يصابان بصدمة كبيرة، بعد لقائهما مع ابنتهما في هيئتها الجديدة، تتقبل الملكة الأم الواقع الجديد الأليم، بينما يرفضه الملك ويقرر التخلص من شريك، وبعد فشله بجميع المؤامرات، يلجأ إلى الجنية العرابة لتعيد له ابنته بصورتها الحقيقة، ولكنها تشترط عليه أن تتزوج من ابنها المغرور.
شريك غول اخضر يعيش في المستنقع وحيدًا مستمتعًا بعزلته، إلى أن يجد في يوم ما كل شخصيات القصص الخيالية ينامون في مستنقعه, فيذهب إلى اللورد فركواد ومعه الحمار كمساعده كي يامرهم بالرحيل, فيطلب منه فركواد ان يذهب لعرين التنين لينقذ الأميرة فيونا التي تتحول في المساء إلى غولة بدورها.
عندما يسقط حماه -الملك هارولد- مريضًا، يصبح شريك الوريث المنتظر للأرض البعيدة، من أجل عدم التخلي عن حبيبته، يجند شريك أصدقائه الحمار والقط لتثبيت أرتي المتمرد الملك الجديد، ولكن الأميرة فيونا، تنظم مسيرات مجموعة من الصديقات الملكية لدرء انقلاب من قبل الأمير الساحر.
تدور أحداث الفيلم حول لعبة خشبية اسمها بنوكيو، التي قام بصنعها صانع الألعاب جيبيتو، الذي يتمنى أن تدب الحياة في بنوكيو، حيث يتم تحقيق هذه الأمنية من قبل جنية زرقاء جميلة وعندها تبدأ المغامرة.
