Madison “Madi” Cowart, a struggling reporter for a Florida newspaper, receives a letter from a death row inmate who claims to be innocent. As the investigation unfolds, not only does the case against the inmate prove to be shaky, but other horrors are lurking in the background.

When author Rosalind Leigh is assigned to write a book about the life of Olive Martin, a woman sentenced to life in prison for killing her mother and sister, she develops a relationship with Olive and is soon convinced of her innocence. With the help of restaurant owner and former policeman Hal Hawksley, she sets out to prove it and undo what she sees as a miscarriage of justice.

Youssef loves his son Islam very much and raises him to learn the teachings of the Islamic religion without exaggeration or racism and leaves his wife Maryam the freedom to pray and veil until she is convinced.
