Za jeho původce jsou hlavním hrdinou Jimem a doktorkou Susan označeni mořští mutanti, kteří vznikli údajně jako doposud netušený vedlejší efekt při biologických pokusech. Při těch se manipulovalo s růstovými hormony ryb a žab a výsledkem jsou mutanti, kteří se neustále vyvíjejí do pokročilejších forem života. Tou poslední je člověk. Takže nyní přichází na páření s ženami nadržená armáda zelených mutantů. Ve městě probíhá nějaký festival a nikdo o ničem neví. Jen Jim a Susan, kteří se dostali až do mutantího hnízda a spěchají ostatní varovat, zatímco Jimova rodina je ponechána osudu doma.
