Daria gaat trouwen en Antonio is de getuige. Het zijn twee kunstenaars die al jaren in hetzelfde pand wonen, maar nu verhuist ze naar een andere buurt. Ze gaan aan de slag met een nieuw project geïnspireerd op Ginger en Fred van Federico Fellini, en halen Emanuele, Monica, Francesco, Martina en Andrea erbij. Ten eerste tapdanslessen, aangezien het script dag voor dag samenkomt, met repetities in Rome, Rimini en Frankrijk, in theaters die gesloten zijn door Covid-19. De euforie loopt hoog op, ondanks de onzekere tijden, en onze theatergroep begint te lijken op een groep overlevenden van schipbreuken, verbijsterd door de manier waarop het echte leven wordt verward met wat zich voorlopig aan het ontwikkelen is als de toneelproductie.

Daria is getting married, and Antonio is the best man. They are two artists who have lived in the same building for years, but now she’s moving to another neighborhood. They get to work on a new project inspired by Federico Fellini’s Ginger and Fred, and bring in Emanuele, Monica, Francesco, Martina, and Andrea. First, tap dancing classes, as the script comes together one day at a time, with rehearsals in Rome, Rimini and France, in theaters shut down by Covid-19. Euphoria is running high, despite the uncertain times, and our theater troupe starts to resemble a gaggle of shipwreck survivors, bewildered by the way real life gets confounded with what is tentatively shaping up as the stage production.

Roma, giugno 2020. L'attrice Daria Deflorian si sposa e il suo partner di scena Antonio Tagliarini le fa da testimone. Per anni hanno abitato nello stesso stabile, a Roma e dopo il matrimonio, Daria cambierà casa, alterando il loro rapporto consolidato di complementarietà, spostandone l'equilibrio, dopo le difficoltà comuni dell'isolamento pandemico. Appena è possibile, con la loro compagnia (Deflorian/Tagliarini), Daria e Antonio iniziano le prove di uno studio ispirato a Ginger e Fred di Federico Fellini. La macchina da presa li segue a distanza molto ravvicinata nella preparazione dello spettacolo e anche fuori dallo spazio teatrale. Il pedinamento del loro lavoro di registi, drammaturghi e interpreti, impalpabile, fragile, soggetto a continui cambiamenti, si fa affascinante materia di racconto tanto quanto le attese, i loro confronti anche accesi, le tensioni attorno al tempo per provare, che sembra non bastare mai.
