Such a great film. Actually had the balls to go against the grain

If you haven't seen the film then I suggest you stop reading this post and go watch it right NOW. This film came out during the flying saucer/alien invaders craze of the 1950s although a tad higher in quality in both production and performances. But what REALLY makes this film stand out for its time is that it actually had the balls to end the film with a very bleak ending. You can possibly count on one hand the horror/monster films of the time made that actually ended with a bad outlook for humanity. It was the 1950s for chrissakes. Everything had to be puppy dogs, white picket fences, and rainbows. I love the fact that it ended with a resounding "YOU'RE FKED PEOPLE" .

Yes, and it does a great job in getting you to feel the frustration the protagonist experiences trying to warn people of the impending doom. As soon as it looks as he may finally have the goods the convince everyone what is happening, BAM, the rug is pulled out from under him.

I agree with most of what you posted with 2 exceptions;
1 - It didn't have as bleak an ending as was intended due to studio interference, interference that still remains.
2 - It's not 4/5, it's 5/5
