Discuss White House Down

Okay; it was a good action flick, and on that level I liked it. There is a 'but', however, and that is that I am getting a bit weary of Hollywood's seeming obsession with the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy. This is a good example of PC run amok, where the Iranians are suddenly going to be very reasonable , keep their ends of any bargains that are struck and get all gooey inside when the POTUS think s up a peace plan. Now that we are being reasonable, they give their sworn hatred of the West and agree to (Taadaa!) accept the existence of Israel This just ain't going to happen, and Hollywood's (very likely) sincerest wishes that it will, won't make it come to pass.

The Military-Industrial Complex, see that their profits will go down the drain so they cook up a nefarious scheme to stop this goodness from taking place.

Still, the end result of this VRWC nonsense is a fairly decent action flick. James Woods was good as the demented villain and Richard Jenkins does well, too. The rest of the cast was good, especially Jason Clark , and Maggie Gyllenhaal was adequate.

Ignore the RVWC stuff and it becomes a halfway decent action flick. All in all, a good flick but the hackneyed premise is a very major flaw.

For me this IS a bad movie with all the stupid clichés like the hacker listening to classical music, the kidnapped little girl, etc
